THE CRYPTO STAMP 3.0 - WITH NFC CHIP AND CRYPTO TECHNOLOGY
Airdentify SE subsidiary VariusSystems GmbH, together with its partner company Variuscard GmbH, has further developed the Crypto stamp!
Two years ago, the Airdentify SE subsidiary VariusSystems GmbH Together with its sister company Variuscard GmbH developed and produced the world's first blockchain stamp for Austrian Post, this year the third generation of the stamp will be released with innovative new features.
The crypto stamp is the first stamp that also exists as a digital collector's item in the blockchain. It consists of two elements: On the one hand, there is the physical stamp, which can be used as a normal postage stamp. On the other side - namely the back of the stamp - you will find the access to the digital "wallet" under a security label.
After the unicorn was created in 2019 and the honey badger, llama, panda and doge and the golden unicorn with a 1 gram gold bar of the Austrian Mint in 2020, also the last week presented Crypto stamp 3.0 with some special features. The new security features and functions were developed together with the crypto community, for the first time we have also Security elements integrated, as previously only used for ID documents.
This time a whale adorns the stamp. The meaning behind it: If someone owns a lot of cryptocurrency, he is called a "whale" by the community, because his decisions can often make big waves on the crypto markets.
Scavenger hunt in advance: Digital whale hunt in the source code
Particularly curious members of the crypto community were able to find out information about the new Crypto stamp 3.0 even before the official presentation last week. At crypto.post.at In an allusion to the whale hunt in Moby Dick, "Easter Eggs" were unlocked every day that provided clues to the release date and the new motif. This gave people the chance to discover all the information 24 hours in advance - hidden in the website's source code!
"We have also made significant improvements to the blockchain technology that serves as the basis for the crypto stamp. The Crypto stamp 3.0 has a face value of 9,90 Euro and can be used as a standard stamp for franking letters and parcels. The stamp has a print run of 100,000 copies and can be accessed online and onchain at crypto.post.at can be pre-ordered. The regular sale starts on 21 June 2021.
For the first time on an Austrian stamp, also NFC technology integrated: The Crypto stamp 3.0 uses an NFC-based authenticity check and is cryptographically encrypted.
What does that mean?
If you hold a smartphone with NFC function on the packaging or on the stamp block, it becomes clear whether you are holding a genuine Crypto stamp 3.0 in your hands. By reading out the NFC chip, both the Authenticity checked as well as the digital twin can be uncovered. A separate app is not necessary for this, the NFC chip leads to a separate website of the respective stamp specimen, on which a sleeping whale can be seen when not activated. Only scanning the QR code on the front reveals the digital twin - and the whale comes to life.
The digital twin of the Blockchain stamp is randomly generated and can be one of five colours possess: black, green, blue, yellow and red - the black edition is the most common and the red the least common.
